A JEANS STUDY IN BRAZIL

Jeans are one of the most versatile garments in the fashion universe. Besides being always popular, they can be used by people of different ages and styles. With this in mind, Invista hired a research to discover the real consumption habits of jeans by Brazilians. The analysis was presented in the latest edition of Premiere Brasil (between the 22^nd and 23^rd of January), in Sao Paulo.

The study was conducted by Ibope Inteligencia, a company that specializes in understanding human behavior, and involved a thousand men and women between 18 and 50 years old from classes A, B and C, in ten capitals: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Goiania, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo.

According to the survey, 46% of Brazilians use some piece manufactured in jeans daily or at least five times a week. Daily use is prevalent among youth aged 18 to 24 years old in the cities of Goiania (76%), followed by Brasilia (59%) and Curitiba (58%). The main reason for the preference of jeans is the ease of use and comfort.

Regarding the most used models, they are the traditional, skinny, cigarette, capri and saruel designs. On average, Brazilians buy about seven jeans trousers a year and the amount spent is 95 reais (about USD 50) per item.
