DENIM PRODUCTS

DENIM PRODUCT TYPES

1. TOPS (JACKETS OR SHIRTS)
2. BOTTOMS (TROUSERS OR SHORTS)

1. a. Denim jackets are products which are commonly supplied as a non basic item. Denim jacket usage in the 60´s was more common that nowadays but still there is a market for it. Since this is not considered a basic item, jackets are items that not all the manufacturers are willing to do or have the capacity to do it. The workforce in a stiching line needs to be properly trained in order to make properly the garment.
Denim jackets usually have a different pricing than regular garments, more expensive in general, in the range of 25 to 50 Euros or even higher. The washing effects on denim jackets can be as broad and diverse as in a regular jean. See the image below :

Why jackets are usually more expensive items than regular jeans if fabric consumption is lower?
There are different reasons but mainly to lower quantities in production cycles and also availability of factories willing to make this kind of product. Washing denim jackets can be also a little more tricky given the fact that the garments can get tangled easier inside the washing drums. This can create more product rejections than regular jeans. We can assist you in finding the right product and right manufacturer of denim jackets if required in your product line.

b. Shirt denim products.
This is a high demand product these days. Most brands treat this product as a basic item and the business volume can be very high. Not all suppliers have the know how for making top quality denim shirts. The main issue for many suppliers is price as this is a product with not much value like jeans. Since top brands do understand well the process of manufacturing in every single country, they know the manufacturing costs quite well. This brings low margin of negotiation to manufacturers therefore many do not consider this line of products due to lower profitability. You must think properly before getting into this niche and refrain from it unless you come up with higher value product.

2. a Denim trousers (jeans)
This is probably the most used item in the world today. Jeans do not have a substitue product in the market that can deliver the comfortability of this garment, versatility in processing and price. Jeans have been part of our lives for decades. It was during XIX century that a man Levi Strauss introduced this product in USA for the mining workers. Since then, the development of jeans have increased and will keep increase. Hundreds if not thousands of jeans manufacturers are available in different countries with capacities ranging from as low as 500 years a day up to 120,000 jeans per day. Keep in mind that in US alone, every year around 500 million jean are sold out.
Jeans are versatile products in all aspects. composition, look, price, etc. A pair of jeans offer the possibility to make a garment extremely informal with a vintage old type of look or very conservative look like a dress. How this is is done is a matter of fabric composition and washing effects.
We all have seen jeans completely destroyed, with holes all around. This trend has been taking place in some  EU countries and Japan as well where some youngsters want an easy going and agreesive look on their garments. In fact the jeans look so old that seem destroyed completely. Consumers are buying a product which is almost useless and pay expensive price for it. This product can be even at 180 Euros with shops of top brands like Diesel, GStar...incredible but true. In fact, there is a lot of work inside the laundry to make the jean with that look. A combination of grinding, blasting some chemical materials, bleaching, laser effects, stone washing effects, enzyme effects, biopolyshing effects, overdyeing effects, resine effects, coatings, etc. All these are tehcniques used in the laundry these days.
Jeans develop for women styles these days are commonly named slim fit look. These jeans usually use strected fabrics made of cotton, lycra and polyester or a combination. Women tend to use jeans that fits their  curved body shapes to make them more attractive. This type of product is mainly used by teens and young women. Older women usually tend to use more classic denim looks with no so agressive looks on it and non strech fabrics. Girls jeans differ also from country to country as tastes or cultural differences do shape the market trends. For example, Latin American market gives good importance the way the back part of the jeans fits the body or the way it gives a desired appearance. In Western countries a more loose, easy going look maybe desired, but not limited to.

On the other hand, men jeans can be either way but certainly depends also on age group as well as cultural tastes. In Germany or US, for instance, sizes and patterns are different than other countries. Garments tend to be more loose and fabrics used are mainly cotton base. Differentiation is given by the washing look effects and trims used.

2.b Shorts
Shorts are really seasonal garments, mainly used in summer conditions. In few countries with constant warmer weather conditions, this product could be considered a basic line as it goes all year long.
Shorts style can be for women or men.
